Ni-Ni and Yo-Yo : Youth Trajectories and Dilemma of Social Welfare Systems in Southern Europe

Objectives

We aimed to provide a road map for the youth NGOs for advocating the social rights of young people as well as increasing the capacities of youth NGOs in the way of the research and creating awareness on the issue of the social welfare system by focusing on four areas : housing, education, employment, health rights and participation of the young people.

The objectives of the project was :
-To analyse the youth trajectories in Southern Europe countries and implications of Southern Europe Welfare System on young people’s lives
-To develop policy paper as a road map for the governments in respective countries on the life of young people concerning their rights
-To understand the causes behind the existence of NEETs in respective countries and provide a road map for the youth workers to reach these young people
-To increase the skills of youth workers in the issue of denied youth citizenship resulting with the marginalisation and exclusion of young people and tackling situation of prolonged youth and Ni-Ni youth trajectories

Activities

The project activities were consisted of three transnational meetings :
1.Kick-Off Meeting in Alcala la Real,Spain (3-6 March 2022)
2. Mid-Term Meeting in Kozani,Greece (8-11 February 2023)
3. Evaluation Meeting in Alcala la Real,Spain (26-29 January 2024)

The learning,teaching training activities :
1) Human Rights of Youth:Training for Young People (11-17 April2022)
2) Training of Trainers for Youth Workers (13-19 March 2023)

The project results between March 2022 – May 2023, we have developed three project results explained below.

Multiplier Events :
In addition to that, we have implemented 5 Country Multiplier Events to promote the project results in between November – December 2023 to promote the project events. In the end of the project, we have implemented International Conference with the involvement of 89 people from European countries in Madrid, Spain to promote the project results in international audience.

Outside of these activities, we have implemented promotion activities with the young people and engaged with the politicians and implement a webinar to promote the project outputs in participating countries and worldwide.

Impact

As a result of the project, we have developed several results in English and country languages to promote the issues as well as make the issues of young people in Southern Europe. These projects results were :
1) The Voices of Young People and Youth Trajectories in Southern Europe : The output consists of 5 separate country reports in country languages, 1 Full Report with comprehensive policy recommendations and comparison of the countries and 100 infographics.
2) Human Rights for Youth and Tackling with Denied Youth Citizenship : Methods for Youth Workers in Southern Europe : The output consists of methods for youth workers to implement activities with young people and youth workers to promote the human rights of youth in participating countries.
3) Stories from Young People in Southeastern Europe : The output consists of 20 interviews in country languages with English subtitles to promote the issues of the young people in participating countries.
