About the project

Picture This – Photography as a NFE Tool is an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange addressing European identity and values, Creativity, arts and culture and Inclusion of marginalised young people. It was developed to advocate for photography as an inclusive tool and empower young individuals to use it as an agent of positive change. “Picture This – Photography as a NFE Tool”. The project uses non-formal education and international cooperation to turn these themes into practical learning, organisational development and community-level action.

Objectives

* To raise awareness among young people about the power of photography and how it can shape the perception of reality.
* To create awareness about diversity and contribute to changing the paradigm of the “ideal.”.
* To develop skills and competences in photography and visual storytelling.
* To empower young people as visual storytellers to promote diversity in their own countries.
* To create a local impact in Coimbra and raise awareness in the local community for diversity issues through a photo exhibition and other local activities.
* To promote and give visibility to the Erasmus+ program.

Activities

* International non-formal learning activities involving participants and partner organisations.
* Practical workshops, collaborative work and reflection connected to the project themes.
* Follow-up and dissemination activities within the participating communities.

Impact

The project will enhance the skills and abilities of young people who are in precarious social situations in society and empower them, making them more aware of the issues surrounding them. In this way, the project will empower the participants and give them the opportunity to change the image of the “ideal” that we have in our society, using photography as a tool for non-formal education. The exchange will have an impact on the involved young people through their exponential multiplication within the general population and the community they belong to. Therefore, the young people will directly benefit from the project not only during its implementation period but also after its completion.
