Climate change is one of the most urgent issues for many young people, who recognise the importance of recycling and other green initiatives. In this project, young people will utilize their creative talents as they develop a deeper understanding of environmental issues. They learn about current factors that affect the earth’s longevity, strategies they can implement at the micro-level to promote positive change, and new products they can design using recyclable materials. Objectives

strategies they can implement at the micro-level to promote positive change, and new products they can design
using recyclable materials. Trash Orchestra comes from its name that the instruments are developed from the
daily trashes.
In 2020, Household waste weighing more than a camel or mini caravan? That was the average amount each
person in the EU generated in 2020, according to Eurostat. At 505kg per person, people produced 4kg more
municipal waste than in 2019 and 38kg more than in 1995. The average adult camel or mini caravan, meanwhile,
is about 500kg. Eurostat defines municipal waste as anything collected by local authorities. This means it mainly
comes from households, but also includes rubbish from shops, offices and public institutions. The EU generated
225.7 million tonnes of it in 2020, an increase of 1% from 2019 and a 14% jump compared with 1995, the
Eurostat figures show. Thus, increasing awareness about the waste management is highly important to prevent
the ecological harms of waste.
In addition to that, we create new places which results with dangers to the marine life as Great Pacific Garbage
Patch. Great Pacific Garbage Patch is three times the size of France and is the world’s biggest ocean waste
repository, with 1.8 billion pieces of floating plastic which kill thousands of marine animals each year. Thus,
re-using plastic materials will create a huge impact on marine life and environment positively. Therefore,
increasing awareness about recycling plastic is highly important.
The project idea comes from the initiative called “Orquesta de Instrumentos Reciclados de Cateura” in Paraguay
and “Orquesta Basura” in Mexico who use the scrap materials from the landfill and urban waste to make
instruments with children and young people and creates music pieces. Our main aim is to create this experience
in European level while creating an awareness on the local community and European level about the
environmental awareness and waste management. Thus, the project will contribute to the awareness raising on
these issues as well as the recycling and reusing the products which are considered as waste and create an
awareness on this aspect as well.
By implementing this project, we aim to increase the awareness of young people as well as the local community
through using the universal tool as music. The idea that the participants will co-develop and co-produce new
music instruments through the collected garbage from the households in our town and one of the most frequent
hiking path in our town. After the collected garbage they will produce musical instruments with the help of our
facilitators and they will implement a concert by using these musical instruments. In that sense, the project will
create both local awareness on the recycling and disposal of waste and the participants.
With the project we will cover three different themes : climate, environmental awareness and music culture. While
covering this themes, we will use the music as a tool and promote and foster the creativity of young people who
are interested and talented on music to promote the ideas with an universal tool such as music. As the European
Green Deal promotes the “longer lasting products that can be repaired, recycled and re-used”, we will create an
awareness on this aspect as well through the project activities.

Activities
The project activity will be implemented between 1-9 July 2024 with 45 participants ( 6 participants + 1 leader )
from 6 different countries (France, Hungary, Portugal, Turkey, Lithuania ) and Spanish group will be 10 people ( 3
facilitators, 1 group leader and 6 participants ) in Alcala la Real as Youth Exchange. The reason that the Spanish
group will be bigger due to operational reason to be able to implement the youth exchange on timely manner and
efficient manner as the activity consists of huge local actions such as engaging with face to face activities in
households of Spanish people and implementing a concert.
The methodology of the activities will be based on the non-formal education methods. The activities will be based
on the self-direct learning methodology and the participants will learn from each other. The facilitators will be
responsible both technical and logistical support to participants and leaders. The methods to be applied during
the will be based on open space activities, group work, researches, hands-on-experience on developing music
instruments.
The aims of the activity :
1.To increase the young people’s green skills focusing on reusing the materials by making musical instruments
and making them understand the usage of music to promote climate change issues
2. To share youth practices concerning climate issues, green skills and cultural expression through music.
3. To create an awareness on the participants about the usage of trash to create new materials and tools to
contribute to the struggle against climate change and over consumption.
4. To create an awareness on the participants about the climate change issues in Europe and overconsumption.
5. To develop the skills of the participants in the field of music and boost their creativity through out developing
their own instruments and making a concert

Impact
The young people will work on the climate change and environmental issues which is highly relevant as the waste
that we produce surpass the limit that cannot be stored anymore. The project will create an impact on the young
people in a huge manner that they will be able to use the waste that they have in their homes from electronic
devices to the organic waste to develop music instruments. Thus, the project will give an aspect to the young
people to use the music as an awareness raising tool moreover, they will become able to use the trash to
produce new equipments such music instruments after experiencing during the youth exchange.
The youth exchange will create a direct impact on the young people as they will become more aware about the
re-use aspect of the waste and they will gain skills to initiate such workshops and activities in their own countries
after their return. The youth exchange will give them a knowledge about the re-using the garbage for reducing the
impact of our consumption to the environment in practical and theoretical manner. Moreover, they will be able to
use the instruments that they have develop by bringing them to their own countries and they will create an impact
on their surrounding to re-using the trash that we produce. In addition to that, we will documentate this process in
several languages during the project that the participants can use it after their return to their own countries. Thus,
the young people will benefit not only during the implementation of the activities but after the project for a very
long time.
During the project activity, we will help participants to develop new projects and activities to be implemented in
their own countries. During the implementation of the project, we will inform participants about Erasmus+
programme and how to develop Erasmus+ projects which will help them to create new project ideas by using the
knowledge that they have gained during the project. On the other hand, the participants will gain creative skills as
they will develop a concert jointly with people from different countries and the project will foster their creativity,
intercultural dialogue and intercultural awareness.
The participants will implement the trash picking by visiting the local households in Alcala la Real and informing
them about the re-use aspect of the project and they will not only create an impact on the young people but they
will create an impact on the local community by creating awareness on the climate change as well as the
consumption. That would help participants to gather the necessary trash to develop the music instruments and
they will engage with the local community. During this activity, the participants will become more familiar about
the local Spanish community and their knowledge concerning Spain and Spanish people will increase positively.
In addition to that, young people in our local will benefit directly from this activity by engaging with their peers from
different countries.
In the last day of the project, the participants will implement a music concert which will be done in Silo which we
have used previously in Alcala la Real to do our music activity and we will invite local people and youth to engage
with our participants and see their work and engage with participants. With this activity, the young people will gain
experiences how to do concert and they will gain knowledge to implement in their own countries after their return
which will create a long-lasting impact of the project. In addition to that, the participants will develop new
knowledge and skills concerning climate change, waste management, music and handcrafting. The project will
help them to use the music as a tool to engage the young people and children as well as the other community
members to make them aware about the environmental issues meanwhile boosting their creativity. The
participants as well as increase their skills on communicating in English and they will learn about new
