About the project

When trying to solve a problem, we often tend to look for useful facts that may guide us to the “correct” answer. This type of thinking—called convergent thinking—works great when the problem we want to solve is clear and requires a reasonable solution. But for bigger, more complex problems, convergent thinking may be too limited. By focusing on existing facts to get to a specific answer, we are likely to miss some interesting solutions. Divergent thinking is all about exploring many ideas based on a question, creating unexpected connections, and encouraging spontaneity. Objectives

When trying to solve a problem, we often tend to look for useful facts that may guide us to the “correct” answer.
This type of thinking—called convergent thinking—works great when the problem we want to solve is clear and
requires a reasonable solution. But for bigger, more complex problems, convergent thinking may be too limited.
By focusing on existing facts to get to a specific answer, we are likely to miss some interesting solutions.
Divergent thinking is all about exploring many ideas based on a question, creating unexpected connections, and
encouraging spontaneity. Moreover, Divergent thinking is the ability to generate many different original ideas in
response to a given problem. Thus, the ideas can generate new and innovative solutions to the challenges that
society faces and takes its space to a new level by using the art methods.
Artivism for Social Peace is a project to increase the awareness of young people to make them change makers to
address the social issues that the society faces today. During the development of this project, we have inspired
from the another project that we are already running under the Strategic Partnership Covid-Call as ARTivistic :
Artistic Approaches to Solidarity, Inclusion and Creativity in Europe. Our project wants to effectuate a change by
increasing awareness of young people on the social issues by using art tools and divergent thinking methodology
during its process. During the youth exchange we will touch upon the following topics explained below :
-Social Peace: EU is considered as a peace project, although the relevant challenges such as Covid-19 and the
populist governments which are promoting nationalism and national values are dangering this peace by
marginalizing the minorities, refugees, and culturally distinctive groups.
-Poverty: As World Bank states, global extreme poverty will rise at the end of 2020, after 20 years of decline.
Thus, creating awareness on the very issue has huge importance.
-Unemployment: Even unemployment was a previous problem, it becomes more crucial due to the Covid-19 crisis
and the worsening economy came with it in Europe.
-Domestic Violence: According to UN Women, domestic violence cases are intensified due to the circumstances
that came with the Covid-19 and increased during the quarantine period.
We have choose the name as Artivism for Solidarity, Inclusion and Creativity, as an umbrella theme to address
the issues derived from the Covid-19 pandemic. Thus, we want to use the tool of art to address those issues in an
indirect way, by creating awareness on the young people through the artistic tools. Young people are the most
affected group from poverty, unemployment, and domestic violence is the young people due to their precarious
situation. The main aim of the project is to increase awareness by addressing the cross-cutting issues such as
social peace, poverty, unemployment, domestic violence raised during the Covid-19 through art and creativity.
The project directly works with young people who are involved in art. The youth exchange activity will increase
the skills and knowledge of the youth workers working in the field of art and qualify them to work with young
people in their own communities.
During the project, we will have exhibition and the country groups will be mixed to work in the topic that they
define important such as social peace, poverty, unemployment or domestic violence and they will develop artistic
products such as Dance, Music or Plastic Arts or Graffiti that we will do in public during the implementation of the
project. During the project, we will address all these issues and dedicate each topic for one dayç

-To create an awareness among young people about the issues of EU during the Covid-19
-To mainstream the usage of art as a tool of expression among young people
– To qualify young people as Artivists who are aware and able to act towards to social issues for solidarity and
inclusion in Europe

Activities

The project activity will be implemented between 1-9 April with 42 participants ( 6 participants + 1 leader ) from 6
different countries ( Spain, Serbia, Bulgaria, Portugal, Italy, Hungary) in Alcala la Real as Youth Exchange.
The methodology to be used within the scope of the project will be based on non-formal education methods and
activities will be carried out in a way that participants will learn from each other. In the process, leaders will play
the role of facilitators, and our team will provide both technical and logistical support to participants and leaders.
The methods to be applied during the will be based on open space activities, group work, researches and visual
presentations.
The aims of the activity :
1.To learn effective methods of tackling with social challenges by encouraging young people with creativity and
participation.
2. To share youth practices, experiences and inter-religious and intercultural practices.
3. To create awareness on the participants about the use of art tools that contribute to the development of
intercultural dialogue.
4. To create awareness on the participants about the social issues in Europe
5. To develop the skills of the participants in the field of art and demonstrate its use in the field of social sciences

As the project focuses on increasing awareness of young people in the field of art, the participants will work on
the issues that they define as important in 6 and 7 days according to their knowledge areas and expertise as well
as the area that they want to discuss. From the first day until the 6th day of the activity participants will work on
the issues according to their knowledge and expertise.In that way, it will increase their participation as well as
their motivation to create new work and promote the usage of art in youth work as well as among the young
people as a tool for creativity and culture.
Participant Profile :
– Have an experience on artistic tools ( musician, video or photography artist, plastic arts or theatre etc. )
– Has tendency to take initiative and motivation to work with artistic tools towards to expression of social peace
– Sensitive to the social issues
– Has a basic level of English ( A2 – B1 )
– Has economical / educational or geogprahical obstacles ( young people with fewer opportunities ) – Half of the
group in each participating country
– Willing to develop activities upon their return
– Have no experience abroad ( the positive selection criteria )
– Willing to discuss about the social issues in Europe
– Willing to perform art in front of the audience and share his/her knowledge with others
– Willing to involve in intercultural and interntional activities

empowered and they will become aware about the issues that surround them. In that way, the project will
empower the young people and give them an opportunity to raise their voices through the artistic tools in their
own communities. On the other hand, as artists they will become aware about the usage of the art in dealing with
the social issues in their own communities and develop attitudes towards to these issues. The youth exchange
activity will be the seed of these activities that they will plan to implement in their own communities as group of
young people to address the issues that they see in their own communities. Thus, the young people will benefit
from the project directly not only the implementation period but after the implementation period as well.
Moreover, we will work with the participants to develop new activities within Erasmus+ that they involve in
different mobilities and engage with the other activities taking place within the Erasmus+ programme. On the
other hand, the project will benefit the young participants by making them aware of the issues and use art tools to
make advocacy work towards these problems. The project will foster intercultural dialogue and intercultural
awareness among the young participants. As they will be exposed to the international environment with people
from different cultures. The project will increase their cultural expression skills and develop a positive attitude
towards to cultural differences.
With the public event, the young participants will have an opportunity to engage with the local youth and become
more familiar of the Spanish culture and their knowledge towards to Spain will increase and they will develop
positive attitudes about our country. In addition to that, the young people in our local will benefit as well directly
from this activity by engaging with their peers from different countries. On the other hand, with that activity, the
participants will gain skills to implement exhibition in their own communities which will help them to engage with
their own community through the art tools and will create a long lasting impact.
On the other hand, Participants will develop their knowledge and skills concerning social issues, solidarity,
inclusion and creativity in Europe and the project will develop their skills to solve the issues. In addition to that,
they will aware about the social issues derived from the Covid-19 which directly affects their daily lives and
develop new ways of coping mechanisms and resolution mechanisms to tackle with these issues. In that way, the
project will contribute their involvement to social life in a positive manner. The participants will develop as well
foreign language skills as they will communicate in English rather than their own country language during the
activity which will have a lasting impact on the young participants’ life.
In addition to that, the participants’ skills will increase concerning the development of the methodologies with art
as they will engage with the other artists from different countries and it will increase their knowledge. As the
facilitation team is consisted of Theatre Professional, Fine Arts Professional and Photographer, it will increase the
knowledge of the participants concerning the Art tools and implementation of the artistic workshops with a focus
of social issues.
The project will help the young people with fewer opportunities as they will involve directly in the project through
the implementation period and it will help them to initiate new activities in their own communities to address the
issues and promote the social peace in their own communities. On the other hand, the project will contribute to
the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities and inclusion of marginalised young people by promoting
social peace among them and involving in the project with art as a universal tool accepted in every pillar of the
society.
Moreover, the young participants will be qualified as Artivists and become volunteers of art to implement activism
in their own communities towards to issues that they define important and they should advocate through the art.
That will as well promote positive attitude towards to artistic practices in their own communities and help young
people to implement activities.
