About the project
Improv por la Paz is an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange that uses improvisation, Forum Theatre and street theatre as tools to promote peace, intercultural dialogue and non-violent communication among young people. The project brings together participants from six European countries to explore social conflicts, discrimination, radicalisation and inequality through artistic expression. By combining non-formal education with theatre methodologies, participants develop creative performances that engage local communities and encourage dialogue on peacebuilding.
Objectives
* Increase young people’s awareness of inequalities, discrimination and conflicts in Europe.
* Develop participants’ competences in Forum Theatre and improvisation methodologies.
* Promote theatre as a tool for peacebuilding, empowerment and non-violent expression.
* Encourage intercultural dialogue and cooperation among young people from different countries.
* Raise awareness within the local community through a public theatre performance focusing on peace and social inclusion.
Activities
* International Youth Exchange in Alcalá la Real, Spain.
* Non-formal education workshops.
* Conflict analysis and peacebuilding sessions.
* Forum Theatre and improvisation training.
* Collaborative script writing and theatre production.
* Public street theatre performance for the local community.
* Cultural evenings and intercultural learning activities.
* Erasmus+ project development and Youthpass reflection sessions.
Impact
The project empowers young people to express themselves through creative and non-violent methods while increasing their understanding of social justice, peace and intercultural dialogue. Participants gain practical competences in theatre methodologies, leadership, teamwork and communication, which they can apply within their own communities. The local theatre performance also increases awareness of peacebuilding among the wider public and encourages continued civic engagement after the mobility.
